Waterfront condo for sale in Treasure Island, easy to show. Real Estate story #4

Waterfront condo for sale in Treasure island, easy to show.

It said in the MLS description "easy to show" just call listing agent.

So I did, his voice mail told me that the number had changed and to dial. . .. and I did, just to get another voice mail saying he can not get any messages on this phone but to call the co listing agent. I did and got another voice mail, so I left a message, "I want to show your unit tomorrow afternoon around 3 pm, please call me back and confirm" Nobody call me back so I called their office phone number, no answer and no even a voice mail. "Waterfront condo for sale in Treasure Island, easy to show." Well I am getting a little disturbed by now.

Made 2 more phone calls to co listing agent and left messages. (By now I am mad and the situation is just ridiculous) He finally called me back to tell me that it is a number lock box and that he does not have the code and needs to get in touch with the listing agent to get it. (yes, you could here my frustration in my response) anyway, shortly before 3 pm the next day both agents separate from each other called me back to tell me, sorry it is a regular electronic Lockbox, no code needed,  just go show it. (I was out of words by than)

So, here comes my client we went into the building up to the 3rdfloor, found the unit, BUT no lockbox. Here I am, calling both agents, again leaving messages. Long story short, they had forgotten to mention the Lockbox is on the ground floor outside by the mailboxes. How I found this out? Well a neighbor overheard me leaving the messages and he told me, that he saw one of this grey Realtor things downstairs. Oh, and one of the agents actually returned my phone call the next day.

So much for  "Waterfront condo for sale in Treasure Island, easy to show."

Anne get the same dog and pony show. How about you finally get all the information and show up with a client and there is NO key in the lock box!

Been there on that one. We really need to be more curteous with each other. Is it too much to ask that a Realtor be able to show a property on the market? After all this is the whole reason it is listed. To show a potential buyer. I wonder how the seller feels about the situation?

I've had this happen too many times as well,  it is frustrating and embarassing.

Well good morning Anne,

I can't imagine the kind of frustration that must have caused.  I hope the buyer you were showing the home to took it in stride and that it didn't do much to hurt your chances of a sale.

I know and understand that phone numbers sometime change and i'll even stretch a little with my understanding of sometimes needing to leave a voicemail but come on!

I contacted a local Realtor where I live almost two years ago about a property.  Contacted them twice and still haven't heard from them.  The property is still active and they are still the agents representing it.  If only the buyers new.

Anyways, have a great weekend; into the office I go!

Sometimes I think that there are agents out there who forget about the cooperation part of the co-op concept! These agents are everywhere.  Frustrating to say the least.  But hey at least you got to show the property.  I have scurried around for days trying to secure a showing but still didn't manage to see a thing!  Good Luck!

All the Best!

Good humor! Not very good marketing on their part - ouch! I wouldn't have even tried the next number.

All the best,

Anne...

I listed a house and the seller told me the ONLY key was in the former agent's lockbox. Different MLS so I paid another agent to open the box for me and guess what? NO KEY! So how was this property EVER shown????

When I hear stories like this I just dont get it.  Annoying for sure... and just think about next time you see their name in the MLS, you probably will pass that one by for another to avoid the problems.. imagine how bad they will be once a deal is together???

Yes, This is one of those things we should put in the Realtor Handbook. There are the numerous stories we can tell. My recent one was "Call for lock box Code" So I called, & Called & CALLED. It makes me feel stupid telling my client who Really wants to see this property, even though I know it is not my fault. Then I get a call saying they were "Out of Town"! So the world revolves around your vacation? You don't make arrangements for back up when you are unavailable? Geeezzzz

I love it when I get the 'mailbox full' message...To me that means I'm crossing that property off the list unless the buyer really wants to see it.

I wonder if anyone has ever come up with the 'Secret Shopper' concept for Realtors... hmm
