It happens to me every year and every year I am soooooooooooo surprised of how dependent we are on electricity. It is summer in Fl and with our big thunderstorm that roll in we often lose power. Usually it is for a few minutes but today I am out of power for 2 hours already and it is supposed to take another two hours. Drives me crazy !!!!!!!!!!!!! Trust me, until you really have a complete power outage you do not know how disabled you are. I have a ton of things to do today but 99% of them require internet. Well if the power is out the internet is out. You cannot listen to music, you can’t watch TV, you can’t cook, you can’t make a cup of coffee, you can’t, you can’t, and you can’t. AND don’t forget, the AC is out of order too. It is scary how much we need electricity.

Guess this is when you have to think outside the box...
I have a power invertor in my truck that allows me to run my laptop and printer in my truck.
I have bluetooth connection from my phone to my laptop so I have internet.
And I have gas and AC if I need to work on the run.
Point is, my truck is more of an office than my office and just one of these many advantages is not only that is it portable, but just with a little gas, it can be a great port in the storm or in this case a great office in the storm.
Growing up in Florida, we are taught to be prepared from birth. Guess I just took it to a new level. Oh, did I forget to mention the portable refrig in the back seat I keep water in during these 3 digit temps lately?

Anne, I also live in FL and I have well water on electrical power. Therefore, no power = NO WATER. I never knew flushing a toilet is a luxury. Count your blessings it really could be worse! Hoping FPL gets you up and running in no time.
