Why I love to live in Treasure Island Florida.

The Tampabay area is just wonderful, I live in Treasure Island, used to live in Saint Pete Beach and my office is in Madeira beach just down the street from Redington and Indian Rocks.

 It doesn’t matter in which one of these beach communities you live, they are all wonderful. We all get a beautiful sunrise every morning and we have the most spectacular sunsets every night.

 The “South Beaches” of Pinellas and that is everything south of the Clearwater bridge to the Skyway bridge consist of little beach towns.

I will list them from the north to the south. There is Belleair Beach and Belleair Shores followed by Indian Rocks beach and Indian Shores.

South of that we have Redington Shores, North Redington Beach and Redington beach. Next is Madeira beach and Treasure Island, Saint Pete Beach, Isla Del Sol and Tierra Verde.

 It sounds like a long long strip, but in reality I am talking about a 20 mile stretch give or take.

All the Redington something’s are just 10 blogs long. My point is that it realty does not matter in which beach community you live, you will be able to walk to the beach, walk to restaurants and bars and shopping. 

These beach communities are very laid back and easy going. We have a good mixture of single family homes, condos and hotels.

We have the tourist season but it is nothing like the Miami area. It does and did not change the character of our little beach communities.

So, when you are down here for a visit you need to go to Sunset beach, that is the south end of Treasure Island. Sunset beach is a very diverse community with lots of really really old little beach shacks as well as modern new construction.

Sunset beach in Treasure island has a lot of positive energy and it is kind of artsy. People are very creative, you can easily see this just by walking around, looking at the mailboxes and other things they have displayed in their front yard.

Once you are in Sunset beach, you have to stop at Caddy’s Waterfront restaurant, have a drink or a bite to eat and enjoy the beautiful beach.

Another must see is John’s Pass right at the Bridge that goes from Madeira beach to Treasure Island. This place is a lot of fun for the whole family. You will find a lot of little shops and stores and souvenir places, ice-cream parlors, restaurant and bars. The best thing about John’s Pass is the boardwalk.

Make sure you take a stroll along the waterfront and watch the boats go in and out of John’s Pass. If you want to do some Parasailing or fishing or jet skiing or rent a boat, John’s Pass is the place.

You next stop should be Pass a Grille. It is the south end of Saint Pete beach just behind the Don Cesar hotel. Pass a grille has a lot of history and walking around you can feel and see it. Have a drink at the Hurricane roof top terrace and watch the sunset or go to the Black Perl for a nice dinner. Talking about dinner, 

The Wine Cellar in Redington is a nice place to go for upscale European food, The Gulf Bistro in Madeira beach has outstanding French food and the Perl in Treasure Island is a gourmet restaurant that you do not want to miss.

Top of the line is of course the Don Cesar in Saint Pete beach, they have a wonderful Sunday brunch. For breakfast we can recommend the Frog Pond in Redington and there is also one in St. Pete beach.

Or go to Tierra Verde to the German Crepes house and have a European breakfast. If you just want a fantastic cup of coffee and croissants, you have to go to Casa Del Pane, a little Italian place in St. Pete beach.

Why I love to live in Treasure Island Florida.

Look what I foud. I was lucky to see these here in Treasure Island right before the tide came in. I love walking on the beach and finding sand sculptures like this. Unfortunately this kind of art only last for a few hours till the incoming tide washes it away. Taking these pictures somehow makes them last longer and more people can enjoy them.

I have been in this area for 18 years. 

 8 of them in St Pete Beach on Bella Vista, 9 in Treasure Island on Paradise Island (still going) and one year in-between in Pink Streets. Tonight was the 4^th of July celebration (I love fireworks) this is an event that I do with my girlfriend for 18 years now.

Usually we go to St. Pete Beach or Treasure Island (yes, once we have strayed to downtown St. Pete and Gulfport) this year we went to Treasure Island, it was wonderful. I admit, St Pete Beach has the better fireworks but Treasure Island has the better party.

It started on Saturday at 4 pm. One local band after the other was playing on Saturday, Sunday and Monday, there was a lot of food and drinks and art and craft displayed right on the beach. Usually all fireworks start  at 9 pm right after sunset but this year it was very different in Treasure Island (loved it) Picture this, thousands of people sitting on the beach waiting for the 9 pm fireworks. Nothing happened!!!  You could see St. Pete Beach fireworks in the south, Madeira fireworks in the north, south east of us were the Gulfport fireworks and east of us the downtown St. Pete fireworks and that was the beauty of it.

Right there sitting on Treasure Island Beach we could see all these fireworks going on around us, it was a beautiful sight and when they were finishing up Treasure Island started with a big bang. It was the best idea ever to wait for all other fireworks to finish before we start. Everybody had a great time and we actually saw at least 4 different fireworks tonight.

Treasure Island Charlie's seafood

I was at the Treasure Island Beach fest this weekend, it was really awesome.

Bands like Single Malt Brothers Band, Sarasota Slim, Caribbean Cowboy, The Rocket Man Show starring Rus Anderson as Elton John,  Tropical Disturbance, Rebel Pride Band and other were playing for the 3 day weekend.

The beach was crowed and everybody had a great time listening to the music, having a few drink and eating the local food.

 I had Charlie's seafood. It is just the best. He is a local guy, truly an original and he simply has the best seafood. I had Grouper fingers (cooked just right) and real Shrimp (not farm raised) it was delicious.

I took some amazing pictures tonight.

Went to the beach access on 120 Ave in Treasure Island, right at Sunset Vistas.

It was about half an hour before sunset and while the weather over the Gulf looked beautiful and the sun was out the clouds were moving in from the east.

Was awesome, loud thunder and lightning and dark dark clouds and the wind picking up.

Treasure Island, beach signs

When you live in Treasure Island or anywhere on the Gulf coast, you are familiar with Stingrays and you do the shuffle automatically.

Not so the tourist. Today I went for a walk on the beach and I saw a father and his two sons in front of a "Stingray" sign.

The father was reading the sign and showing them the pictures and explaining about Stingrays etc. Made me realize that things we take for granted and do not even think about anymore are completely new to other people and the Stingray signs on the beach now actually make sense to me. Treasure Island Car Wash, just love it.

Need a clean car in a hurry?

 Well in Treasure Island it is easy, it usually take me 10 minutes and $1.50  from the moment I leave my driveway till I get back with a clean car.

The Treasure Island Car wash is 3 minutes away from my house, it has 4 outside spots to dry or vacuum your car and 3 pressure wash spots.

Today was another story, all wash spots were taken and all dry spots were empty.

No big deal, the pressure washing cycle takes 3 minutes and the car can move to the dry spot. 3 minutes go by 4, 5, 6 .... For some very strange reason, today people did not understand that you can NOT detail your car sitting in a wash spot. Nobody moved for 15 minutes, finally they all left at once and it was my turn. ...................

You will probably say NO Anne; this is a book store, not a Post office. And you know what? You are half right and I am half right.

Our little Treasure Island Post office is truly unique.

It is located on north side of 107 Ave in Treasure Island in a strip mall. The banner advertising simply says BOOKS but there is a little sign in the window that says Post office.

It actually is both, cutes place, the owners are very friendly and helpful and I love to go there either to buy stamps or to buy used books or baseball caps.

So came for yourself and take a look, you really need to see and FEEL this "book post office store"

I love my Treasure Island, like I have said so many times before, you can find everything you need here in Treasure Island even a coin car wash. $1,50 and 5 minutes later you car will shine again.

 Invest another 75 cents and 2 more minutes and you car will smell wonderful. Now if you want to go all the way and also get the sand off the seats and floor it will cost you another 75 cents and 3 minutes. But think about this $3 and 10 minutes and your car looks and smells like brand new. If I try to do this at home  (half a mile away) It takes me an hour to get all the stuff out, I will have a mess on my driveway, my cloth will be wet and dirty and most likely I will have a bruise from being too stupid to drag the pressure washer around. So, you might guess, I go to our little Treasure Island carwash all the time (wonder why I even have a pressure washer) PS. It is a good thing to have quarters in your car at all times.

Things to do in Treasure Island Florida, bongos /drum circle on the beach

Yes, that is right, Treasure Island has a wonderful event right on the sandy beach.

Every Sunday in Treasure Island Florida a huge group of people gathers on the public beach in

Treasure Island on the corner of Gulf Blvd and 104th Ave and plays the Bongos.

It all starts around sunset and goes on for a couple of hours.

It is absolutely awesome -  a fantastic show.

Come by and enjoy the music, bring your blanket and cooler if you want to.

This is the best Sunday entertainment Treasure Island has to offer and it is for free.

Meet your neighbors, make new friends and have fun listing and dancing to some Caribbean music.

I really do not know how all this started, but it is rocking right now.
