Veterans Day Parade and Celebration

Tomorrow is Veterans Day. To honour our service members, veterans and fallen heroes. Friday, November 11 at 9:00 a.m. at Lake St George Elementary in Palm Harbour. If I get crazy I might even try to find my Dirndel and surprise everybody. (NOOOOOOOOO, I am not from Munich, I am from Cologne but just for the fun of it I own a Dirndel)

St. Pete Beach, Lifeguard lessons for Teens

Another great idea to use the pool this summer.

Beginning at June 20, 2011 to July 11, 2011 there are lifeguard classes at the Recreation Centre in St. Pete Beach Fl at 7701 Boca Ciega Dr.

Starting at 10:00am-12:00pm Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.  St. Pete Beach Residents pay $90 for this 2 week training, non residents pay $ 100

Children over 10 years of age can sign up.  If you have more questions call the Rec Centre in St. Pete Beach 727 363 9264.

Great event downtown St. Pete. You do not want to miss it. Weather is supposed to be perfect !

Bugattis, Lamborginis, Vettes you name it, all on display ! Rare, exotic, fast and antique cars.. Don't  forget to check out the yachts too down at the Vinoy Yacht Basin. The Festival of Speed in St. Petersburg is fun for everybody.

St. Pete Beach Community Center hosts yard sale

St. Pete Beach, FL:  The City of St. Pete Beach is holding another huge yard sale on Saturday, March 5^th from 8:00am to noon at the St. Pete Beach Community Center, 7701 Boca Ciega Drive.  This large-scale event will take place in three different areas of the Community Center to provide shoppers with tons of treasures to browse through.  There are still spots remaining for those wishing to sell their items; Come by the Recreation office or call 363-9245 to reserve your spot.

St. Pete Beach, FL:  The City of St. Pete Beach is hosting its first community-wide yard of the new year on Saturday, January 22nd from 8:00am to noon at the St. Pete Beach Community Center, 7701 Boca Ciega Drive.  Start 2011 out right by cleaning out your garages and closets and making some extra cash.  10'  by 10' spaces are $10.00 for SPB residents and $12.50 for non-residents; a limited number of tables are available for $5.00.  Registration begins Monday, January 3^rd and continues until all spaces are filled.  Come by the Recreation office or call 363-9245 to reserve your spot.

St. Pete Beach, FL:  The ever-popular "Senior Excursions" will continue to run weekly from the St. Pete Beach Community Center all winter long.  Guests travel to popular attractions and shopping destinations all over Tampa Bay without the hassles of driving, tolls and parking.  The trips run almost every Friday from 9:00am to 4:00pm with a few special trips occurring on other days of the week or at night.  Travel to places such as the Hard Rock Casino, Strawberry Festival, the circus, IKEA, Ybor City and much more.  Trips are just $10 for St. Pete Beach residents and $12.50 for others; additional entry fees may apply.  Seniors can also now participate in "Luncheon Excursions" on select Wednesdays where we check out different restaurants for a real taste of Tampa Bay.  These trips are just $3.00 for residents and $5.00 for non-residents plus meal costs.  All of these exciting trips begin in January so make sure to reserve your spots now. Support Our Troops Golf Tournament, St. Pete Beach.

St. Pete Beach, FL:  St. Pete Beach Support Our Troops is a registered non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation dedicated to showing our brave men and women fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan care and appreciation for their sacrifices.  Please join us for a "Support Our Troops Charity Golf Scramble" at the St. Petersburg Country Club on February 7, 2011.  Registration begins at noon with a shotgun start at 1:00pm.  Participants can register for the entire tournament or just dinner; all funds raised are used for postage to mail packages to those currently deployed in Iraq and Afghanistan.  Support Our Troops is always seeking financial support as well as donations of food and hygiene products to provide care packages to troops.  For a full list of needed items and to find out more information on getting involved in this fun and worthwhile event, please contact Terri Finnerty at 727-641-2314 or spbsot@yahoo.com.

Things to do with Toddlers in St. Pete Beach
ST. PETE BEACH, FL:  The City of St. Pete Beach's Recreation Division offers a variety of classes catering to toddlers ages 3 to 5.  Start Smart Sports teaches children the fundamentals of sports such as basketball, soccer, and baseball.  The program allows participants to learn coordination while interacting with their peers to build social skills.  Start Smart is offered Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1:30 to 2:15pm.  Music, Movement and More offers kids ages 3 to 6 incredible learning and sensory experiences as they sing, dance, make creative snacks and much more.  Class is held every Tuesday from 6:30 to 7:45pm.  Art-tacular Adventures also offers toddlers a chance to sing, act, create and just be a kid!  Classes are offered Monday and Wednesday mornings from 10:30 to 11:30am.  The Cheryl Lee Studio of Dance, Hyde Tae Kwon Do and Bayside Gymnastics also offer year-round programs for ages 3 and up.  Find something to do with your toddler every single day at the Community Center, 7701 Boca Ciega Drive.  Program prices vary so call the Community Center at 363-9245 more information at www.spbrec.com.

FREE FAMILY GAME NIGHT EVENT IN SAINT PETE BEACH
ST. PETE BEACH, FL:  The City of St. Pete Beach's Recreation Division invites all area families to be a part of its first-ever Family Game Night on Tuesday, November 23rd from 5:30pm to 8:30pm at the St. Pete Beach Community Center, 7701 Boca Ciega Drive.  Families will participate in Wii games on our giant inflatable screen, hoop contests, board games, family Pickleball, "Minute to Win It" style games and much more!  There is no charge for this awesome event - even the pizza dinner is on us!  Pre-registration is required; families can sign up until the Friday prior.

Gecko fest in Gulfport Fl.

The 10th Annual Gulfport Gecko Fest is set for Saturday, September 4^th, 2010.  This FREE Event sponsored by the Gulfport Merchants Association, The City of Gulfport and The Gulfport Chamber of Commerce, St. Petersburg Times, Bright House Networks, GEICO, and Zhu-niverse and is a full day of fun for everyone.  This whimsical send off to summer is like Mardi Gras meets the Renaissance, and brings together strolling street performers, main stage performers, performing artists and vendors with all types of weird and wonderful wares up and down Beach Blvd. Over 200 arts, craft and food vendors will be in attendance at this year’s event!

Zhu-universe will sponsor the children’s area with inflatable habitat trails, human hamster wheel, 6 set obstacle course, Nintendo DS Hand held systems, Wii kiosks, photo opportunities, Zhu Zhu Pets and Kung Zhu Product and accessories showcase, give-a-ways, ID clips, Music and more!

Join the o-FISH-al GECKO Goddess and the Gecko Court along with Kim Magic and other roving characters, who will be roaming the streets and entertaining the crowds!

Saturday Sunsets on the Trail is a sunset celebration that takes place along Treasure Island's gulf front beach trail on the first and third Saturdays of June, July & August and the first Saturday in September. This free family event features artisans, crafters, street performers and live musical entertainment, weather permitting, from 5pm until 9pm.
