Is someone had told you that would you have believed it? I watched the news this morning and yet again, Facebook, Twitter , Goggle are amazing tools to help find people in the Japan disaster are. Honestly I would not have believed 10 years ago how powerful and huge these social media website would become and how they would be able to change the world and way we live and do business. We live in interesting times to say the least. Where is all this going? Where are we in another 10 years from now?

It is not WHAT you say, it is HOW you say it.

I sometimes wonder, how can Realtors survive that have NO social or people or negotiation skills?

Unfortunately I have already run into two of them this year already and there is still 10 months to go.  Yes, a deal is between the buyer and the seller but it really does not help to annoy the heck out of the listing agent before you even present the offer. You know the feeling when the hair on the back of your neck stands up and you have to take a deep breath before you can answer the question?  My Grandma taught me that being "nice and friendly" does not cost anything and it will get you a long way. I wish everybody had learned this lesson. Sure, there is a time when you have to get tough and put down you foot and argue and make a strong point but you still don't need to do this in a bitchy loud voice. There is no good reason whatsoever to talk bad about a seller in front of the listing agent and buyer. What do these Realtors try to accomplish? What about these Realtor that constantly tell bad stories about old clients while they are showing a home to new buyer?  Well, it is a strange world out there and I don't think I will ever completely understand it. 

I try to stay as friendly as possible but sometimes I just snap.  

How do you deal with people like that?

Will we ever enter the 21 Century?

I was at a town hall meeting last night in downtown St. Petersburg held by the secretary of the Navy about the Oil spill and recovery plan for the Gulf of Mexico.  An hour into the meeting it all of a sudden hit me, what am I doing here? What a waste of time and money and energy. The same day I had attended a sales webinar in the morning and an active rain webinar in the afternoon from the comfort of my home in Shorts and T shirt, with a coffee in my hand and my cat on my lap. Both meeting took an hour each and I went back to my work immediately, in fact I even answered a few e mails and searched for properties to show while being at the meeting. Now, 4.30 pm I have to get dressed, put make up on and drive downtown, find a parking space, pay for it and walk up to the town hall to find a seat and so did about 300 other people. This "one hour" meeting took me over 3 hours. This is the 21^st Century why on earth do we still need actual town hall meetings, what is wrong with a town hall webinar? It is much cheaper, more efficient, less time consuming, saving physical energy and gas for all the cars to drive around town, give way more people the chance to attend etc.......................

I am going to the Florida Association Of Realtors 2009 Annual Convention and Trade Expo 2009 in Orlando. I just made my reservations.

Looking forward to the event. Lots of interesting topics and I am also eager to see what is new on the trade show.

Is anybody else going?

I just read a great post by Jason Crouch  about doing the best you can and being available for your clients and giving them information so they can educated decisions and so on.

I believe this is the norm especially for people here on Active Rain; I have the feeling that we all go the extra mile.  Anyway, this post inspired me to think about  "What do I do to stand out"

One of the little things is my Voice mail recording.

I try to answer the phone whenever I can, but sometimes, I just can't.

I hate voice mails and I think most people do, so when I get a voice mail I am already upset, but it gets worst when someone say

"I will call you back at MY earliest convenience"  Freaks me out.

My voicemail says, in a normal voice, (as if I actually was answering the phone)

Helloooooooo, This is Anne with South beaches Real Estate Professionals, sorry, can't answer your call but Pleeeease leave a message and I will call you back before the sun sets.

Works great for me, I just got this person that was annoyed but yet another voice mail to smile and I got him or her to remember me and when I call back I keep my promise and earned a little bit of trust.

Do you know if it is ok to write my posts in a different language?

I am German and I am a Realtor here in St. Petersburg Florida. We have a huge German community and I try to stay in touch with them. That is not so easy since most Germans that own real estate here in St. Pete actually use it as a second home and they only spend a few weeks out of the year here in St. Pete.

Active rain is working wonderful when it comes to page ranking on Google and it is fun to write posts. So, I was thinking maybe Active Rain might also work to reach buyers and sellers in Germany for the St. Pete Florida area and to stay in touch with clients.

Do you know if I am allowed to write in a different language (other than English) and will it even make sense because the Germans search on Google.de not Google.com?
